About The Porsche Cayenne Electric
The Cayenne has always been a platform for innovation for Porsche. It was the model that proved an SUV could drive like a sports car, ushering in an expanded Porsche model lineup. It was also the first production Porsche model to offer a hybrid drivetrain. Today, while it isn’t the first EV from Porsche, it is a technological powerhouse that firmly cements Porsche’s status as the leader in EV technology. From the blistering performance to the pioneering advanced charging options, the Cayenne Electric achieves what was thought impossible not very long ago. And it does so while offering unbeatable everyday practicality and comfort. There’s seating for five, generous cargo space, and ergonomic controls to make everyday use easy and enjoyable.
What the Critics Say
“The Cayenne also inherits the excellent Active Ride system from the Taycan and Panamera, and the body control and ability to soak up bad roads are just as magical in the Cayenne as in the lower-riding Porsches.” – Car & Driver
“The Turbo turns Spain’s narrow rollercoaster roads into honest rollercoaster thrills. All four tires scramble for traction as you unwind the steering wheel from a 30-mph hairpin and boot the accelerator. The 5,850-pound big dog charges hard enough out of corners that it’s easy to scare yourself.” – MotorTrend
Porsche Cayenne Features
Groundbreaking Drivetrain
The first thing to be said about the Cayenne Electric drivetrain is that it’s quick, really quick. Every model comes with a dual-motor AWD setup, which in the base model produces 435 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, for a 0-60 time of just 4.5 seconds, only a tenth of a second slower than the top non-electrified Cayenne trim, the GTS. And if you’re looking for even more power, there is the Cayenne Turbo Electric, which comes with 1,139 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque, for a 0-60 time of 2.4 seconds. To go with this unbeatable power, the Cayenne Electric also features multiple charging innovations. The most notable of these is the invention of wireless charging for EVs, with the Cayenne Electric being the first vehicle ever to offer it. Charging becomes as simple as parking over a charging plate installed in your garage. Or, if you’re on a road trip and need to stop for a quick top-up, the DC fast charging rate of the Cayenne Electric is the fastest of any production electric vehicle. At 400 kW, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 16 minutes.
Luxury Interior
Porsche puts the same kind of attention to detail into making the interior of the Cayenne Electric comfortable as goes into the fire-breathing performance. Take the example of the infotainment touchscreen, which is angled to fit into the dash, rather than stand out, blending a large and functional screen with an unobtrusive design, and all in a way that has never been done before. Even the seat design is the product of a long history of evolution and refinement, so as to deliver maximum comfort. Porsche also ensures you can customize your vehicle to make it feel like your own, meaning you can expect the usual array of upholstery colors and materials, stitching color options, and a choice of two different premium stereo systems.
Cutting-Edge Technology
There’s more to the technology in the Cayenne Electric than just the parts that make it go fast and recharge conveniently, although that is a great place to start. The rear electric motor on the Turbo model creates such tremendous power that Porsche added direct oil cooling - something never before seen on an EV, so that the Cayenne Electric doesn’t need to use a two-speed rear transmission to hit top speed, the way other electric performance vehicles do. And while the adaptive air suspension and available Porsche Active Ride chassis control system aren’t all-new for the Cayenne Electric, they are incredibly advanced and proven technologies that Porsche uses to deliver the amazing handling that the brand is known for. Even the headlights, which are HD-Matrix Design LEDs use advanced technology to greatly enhance visibility, far more than regular LED headlights.
