About The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS

More than just a trim level, the 911 Carrera GTS also ushers in a groundbreaking new era for the 911. That’s because the Carrera GTS is the first hybrid 911, using an electrically assisted drivetrain to deliver noticeably more power. This unique system is built solely for performance, without an all-electric mode, and without a large, heavy battery weighing the car down. Instead, you get the pure driving pleasure that you’ve come to expect from the decades-long history of the 911. To go with the hybrid drivetrain, the Sport Chrono Package comes as standard equipment, adding the all-important launch control with it. Sport Suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is also standard, completing the track-ready performance focus.

What the Critics Say

“The car rocketed out of corners with instantaneous throttle response—no surprise at high rpm—and displayed very powerful brakes and tremendous grip. We hit an indicated 155 mph on the longest straight of roughly 2200 feet.” -- Car & Driver

“The new 911 Carrera GTS T-Hybrid is an engineering masterclass for a variety of reasons, but I’ll tell you the most important one: if I didn’t tell you it was a hybrid, if the (easily removable) sticker on the door didn’t say so, you wouldn’t know.

I’ll say that again, and I mean it: You wouldn’t know.” -- Road & Track

What’s New for 2025

The 2025 Carrera GTS is part of the new 992.2 generation of the 911. That means the revolutionary drivetrain isn’t the only new part. Inside you’ll find a fully digital gauge cluster, also a first for the 911. And the new HD-Matrix headlights are so advanced that Porsche was able to do away with the lower front lighting to make room for active aerodynamic fins.

Advanced Hybrid Drivetrain

There are a lot of different kinds of hybrid drivetrains out there, but with the T Hybrid, Porsche still managed to make something totally unique. Even other hybrid sports cars don’t have systems like this. There is still a small electric motor mounted between the 3.8-liter flat 6 gasoline engine and the PDK transmission, which helps with low-end torque, but that’s not the main component of the hybrid system. It’s the turbocharger where things really get interesting. This is an electrically assisted turbocharger, which can maintain manifold pressure even when exhaust pressure is relatively low. So unlike other hybrid systems, the system itself doesn’t produce much actual power, but instead helps the gasoline engine produce more power, and across a wider rev range. And since the hybrid system is mostly just powering the turbocharger, rather than moving the whole car, the high-voltage battery can be much smaller and lighter.

Incredible Performance

The T Hybrid system in the Carrera GTS keeps things simple and lightweight, but it does help the engine produce more power, for a total of 532 horsepower and 449 lb-ft of torque. That power, along with the flat power band, means the Carrera GTS can go from 0 to 60 in just 2.9 seconds, a full second quicker than the base Carrera. Handling is similarly brilliant, thanks in part to the lightweight hybrid system, but also because the Carrera GTS comes with standard sport suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), as well as real-axle steering. Porsche also gives you the option of all-wheel drive, in the form of the Carrera 4 GTS, though the power output and 0-60 time remain the same. Either way, you get the planted and precise handling that has made the 911 such a favorite at racetracks around the world.

Impressive Customization

The 911 stands apart from other sports cars, but sometimes you want it to stand out from other 911s, or you just want to set your car up exactly the way you want it. Fortunately, Porsche offers a level of customization you aren’t going to find elsewhere. To start with, there are quite a lot of unique paint colors to choose from, but if none of those are quite right, Paint to Sample lets you choose any color that is technically possible to create. There is a standard set of 20"/21" GTS wheels, but there are S and RS Spyder wheels available in the same sizes as a no-cost option. Inside, there is a long list of options for the upholstery, seat belts, and even the stitching. The Exclusive Manufaktur program opens you up to even more options for the interior as well, and there are thousands of different combinations. A back seat isn’t standard, but this is also a no-cost option. And if you want to enjoy some music while you drive, there are premium stereo options made by either Bose® or Burmester®.
