Porsche Macan Gets Testing In South African Highlands

August 23rd, 2018 by

When it comes to off-road capacity, the Porsche Macan is already one of the best options in its class, but how rugged can it really get? In anticipation of an upcoming refreshed model, Porsche took the Macan to some high altitudes for a recent video test in South Africa.

How Does the Macan Look?

In the video, you can see the Macan run over a variety of harsh surfaces, including gravel roads. The test crew also makes a detour to nearby Lesotho to go for some serious high-altitude driving, where the roads are rocky, the heat is intense, and dust is constantly getting kicked up. Even with all these changes, the Macan still held its own all the way to 11,155 feet above sea level.

Under The Hood

Now, at this point, one must wonder what exactly the refresh is going to do to make such a great car even better. With the most powerful engine option, the Macan can already hit 60 mph in only 3.7 seconds. We don’t have full details yet, but one change that will be made is the 2.0-liter turbo engine getting an upgrade to 300 horsepower.

Moments like these are a true demonstration in the power and ability these top-of-the-line cars have. However, when the time comes for you to pick up a Porsche Macan for yourself, chances are that you want to make sure that you get the best fit for your money. This means a lot of different things, from the type of financing you get to the features that you want, and of course, the make and model itself.
